This is the book shelf what a mess

So today I spent hours rearranging the house. we don't have to much furniture as we thought when we moved we would start a fresh and buy new goodies. Well we haven't got around to it. So check out the transformation.

Ghosts

Yesterday I went for a big walk with Charlee down to visit a friend Nikki. We began to talk about spirits which is a topic I am interested in. Nikki was telling me that her Nana woke up on two different occasions and the first seen her dead brother just standing there and then the next time her dead sister. I said to Nikki if you ask almost anyone and their honest they will tell you they have had a spiritual experience. Even my pessimistic father lived in a house that had an extra residence and she would walk along the veranda. The dog would bark it's head off and then she would be gone. So isn't it funny that people still are skeptical to just accept that there is an after life and some spirits hang around and other are never seen again. Wouldn't it be fascinating to know why. Since Mrs Halls has passed Joe has had many experiences with her mother. Joe had all the windows in the house closed and there were Chinese wind chimes hanging from the curtain rod. One day she went outside and all of a sudden she heard the chimes blowing like crazy she ran inside and there was Coby (her son) in front of the TV and there was smoke coming out of the DVD player. If those chimes hadn't made a noise that DVD would of blown up with little Coby right there. How did the chimes chime there was no breeze as the house was completely closed up. Coby talks to his nan quite a bit the other day Joe said that he was having a full blown conversation with her in the bedroom. Isn't it awesome to think that even if he won't remember he's obviously got his nan right there beside him. I myself have had heaps of tell tale signs that we have other energies around us. I say energy because that is what I feel. When Mrs Halls passed I was at work and I bent down to put a pie in the oven and all of a sudden I felt a massive surge of energy, like someone had jumped right at me. I screamed and there was no one there. I couldn't stop thinking about it and then Jason rang to tell me she was gone. Another time I went to visit an old lady called Maud and her husband had passed away a few weeks before hand. She was showing me around the house and she took me into one of the bedrooms as I sat on the bed all this heavy, heavy depressed feeling came over me. I felt so upset I said to Maud is this Ted's old room and it was. I had to get out it gave me the creeps because I'd never felt something so strong before. I could go on and on and on but I will tell you what Nikki told me yesterday. She said she was staying at a friends house when she was younger and she said the house had a creepy feeling to it. She went to sleep and woke up to a figure with a shawl on just standing in the room. Nikki was terrified it didn't move so poor Nikki put the blanket over her head and eventually went off to sleep. The next morning she was at the b'fast table and told her friend and the mother and the mother said she had seen it before.

The picture at the top has always haunted me it's called Menen Gates at Midnight by Will Longstaff. It's from the Australian war museum and has an amazing story behind it. In 1927 there was a memorial set up in Belgium to remember the 350 000 soldiers who had died in the battles around Ypres. The artist went to the ceremony and watch the unveiling and couldn't sleep so at midnight he went for a walk along Menin road and saw the vision of steel-helmeted spirits rising from the corn fields around him. So Will Longstaff went back home and painted the picture in one session. I wish you could see it more closely it's truely amazing and haunting.
If anyone has got any experiences they want to share leave a comment I would love it.

The challenge

Ok the challenge is on! Above is a picture of a blue and green sheet and I am going to create a masterpiece for moi and my best bud Joe. So hopefully Joe likes the sheet yes I said sheet, chooses what she would like me to make maybe a cute nightie (hint) and we'll be wearing an original gummy shark creation. Gummy Shark is such a suckful name that I was called at school, being the robo babe I am and was I began high school with only 2 top teeth (eyecandy) I can remember one day a boy called Scott Acorn (I hope he's reading this) looked at me whilst I was of course in a group of people and he said the infamous words "Kym you know what you look like" mmm what I was thinking more on the lines of Demi Moore (my mother always told me I looked like her) and Scott the tosser said as loud and clear as he could " A gummy shark" So from that day on it stuck and you know who was the worst, Joe who by the way was called "witch queen" which I will go into another day. So still to this day she calls me gummy shark. Well let me tell you the witch queen was very happy with the gummy shark today. Can you remember that I sewed identical blue checked wide leg pants. Well the witch queen rang me today and said "I love them I don't know if it the fabric or the way you sewed the pants but the fall is fantastic" well what was I to say " of course it was my masterful sewing skills". So she's a fan of the pants but look at the top picture these are another pair of pants I sewed and well I sewed the front to the back and the back to the front. I still wore them anyway and today being the big hearted ocean dweller I am I offered them to Joe and of course didn't tell her they would be riding up her butt and floppy at the front. Which is always a fantastic look and definately not the first time Joe has worn something like that. So witch queen, the beautiful one of a kind brown and white back to front pants are yours for the taking just tell me when you want me to send them.

Gratitude day

Today I have had an awesome day a few good things have happened (Why did I pick a photo of old Nana smoking a joint well it looks to me like she's having an awesome day too)

1. I booked in 5 parties and then just waiting for a friend who house has no railings around the verandah to work out how she can have a party. Well being the problem solving legend I am I could get my friend to invite old joint smoking Nana and blow the smoke around the room and hopefully all the kids will fall asleep and then no one would fall off the verandah. Who said I'm not wise.

2. I asked Riley if he had a good day at preschool and he said "No not really mummy I just stood around and waited for you all day" Just melts ya heart doesn't it then I complained about having a sore elbow and he said "How did you do that you poor old darling" What a fantastic age his at.

3. There's a little boy at Preschool and he had a lot of allergies and looks a bit lonely. I said to Riley is Jason ( the little boy) your friend and Riley said No. Why? I asked and Riley said " he doesn't talk to me" I thought how many times do you think that someone doesn't like you because they don't talk to you. They could be shy, have no confidence or feeling exactly the same way that you do. So I gave Riley a mission I told him to go up to Jason and say "hello how are you today would you like to play" and I said to him that's the way you make friends you go up and say hello first. Hopefully that sets a foundation for the rest of his life, to realize to be the one to make people feel at ease and you will always have mates.

SHARING PHOTOS

What a fantastic day it is today I slept for 8 hours which is unheard of with a baby like Charlee. Some night she wakes up 10 times so yes I have had much NEEDED beauty sleep. We had a fantastic day on Easter Sunday all the family was together for the first time in 4 years and Riley and his gorgeous cousin Nickolas played and played. This is them in a wheel barrow filled with water. Yes here in Norther NSW there are no water restrictions not that we waste water. I feel that I am giving Riley an extra awesome childhood just to be able to play under a hose he loves it.
It's hard to get Charlee to smile for the camera and here she is with her 2 bottom teeth. AAAHHHH hot saucey bubba
I went out last night with the playgroup girls and this is them. We laughed and laughed and laughed. I will introduce you to them. Bottom left is obviously me wearing my fav shirt (yes I need to go shopping for more clothes) The middle is Jane who laughs all the time ( I love it) shes that type of person, you know the one who when everyone's finished laughing you look over and she's still cracking up with tears rolling down her cheeks so then I keep laughing. Naomi is next and she 30 can you believe she honestly looks 22 she's smart, funny, hot and has no fat on her body. Marie said she went swimming with her and she had the most toned body so marie refused to go in. Guess what she does to get that body. Yesterday she did 3 minutes on the trampoline ( she must be exhausted) and you know what she just a lovely person and everyone who meets her would want to be her friend. Above right is Michelle she the quiet one (which you need with me around) she takes it all in and never says a bad word about anything (excellent) and finally Marie-Louise who I think will be my partner in crime she is so FUNNY and loves a few too many wines (yip pee) she has a very funny personality but you know the best thing about Marie-Louise is she's so interesting you know there is never a dull moment with her so there should be some interesting stories coming up.
So I had a fantastic night and guess what I just opened the door to my brand new
DIVA KIT.

Weekly goals

This is a very exciting week for me as my Diva kit should arrive hopefully on Wednesday or Thursday. I feel guilty for staying home and not bringing in any money and I know I shouldn't but I thing because I've worked all my life and been very independent I still want a bit of that independence. So this is the beginning of my Independence week.
OK so here they are my weekly goals:
1. Ring up 4 people to organise 4 parties (This terrifies me) I will have my own party through the girls at playgroup. I will ask Megan, Nikki, Kristy, Marie Louise. The sad thing is that's all I know in Grafton.
2. Give away 10 catalogue's by door knocking.
3. 4 X bike ride ( i went for a bike ride the other day and I got about 1km and had to turn back I am so unfit)
4. Eat raw for b'fast and lunch ( today I will have cereal and fruit juice for b'fast and snacks will be crackers tomato and cheese and then lunch will be a huge mother of all salad's due to the fact I will be starving by lunch time)
Da Da Da that's all for my goals
I'm trying to upload a photo of things we did over the Easter weekend but my camera doesn't seem to like to do that.

CHEER ME UP

Photo's courtesy of the beautiful Zyra

Today I need cheering up. I drove into the driveway yesterday and there were old pieces of timber that had been sitting there beside the carport for 2 months. I looked a bit further up and there were old electrical wires sitting in a heap under a bush. On the path that goes around the house was 5 old paint tins an old rusty chair, a box full of fire wood. Then beside the rubbish bin was an old stool and some more junk. I went upstairs and I said "Jason I don't mind you collecting crud just please keep it in the shed" sounds fair doesn't it. Well not according to him well when I keep the house tidy he will tidy up his rubbish. Which is easier said than done when you have a toddler and a 10 month old baby. According to Jason (I have now been told a lot of other men think the same) women sit at home and do nothing when shes is a stay at home mum. Today I arose and thought right I'm gonna teach you a lesson and I said "Jason today I am not looking after the children I will sew and relax and you can do it since I do nothing. Well the poor little buggars have sat and watch tv ( which I don't agree with in the day)

So why is this blog called cheer me up? I googled the words and I landed on the weirdest site I have ever seen (apart from a site for witches in Ipswich and they were wearing a pointed hat and had close up pictures of their nipples) It's a lady (well mmm!) called Zyra and she Say's that her pictures can cheer people up. Make up your own mind. Well Zyra, I thought you were a little strange until I read your inventions and then I Knew you were a little strange.

These are 3 of Zyra's amazing inventions

1. Using a gerbil as a paper shredder

2. Because people tend to look at deaf people as senile he oops she has come up with headphones instead of hearing aids so they look like groovy music addicts (did she think it would be a bit awkward at a dinner party)

and my fav one

3. Penguin Keys if you are looking at your computer keyboard and think it needs to be glamed up why not copy and paste a picture of a little penguin (up top of page if you would like to do it yourself) and print it out and glue onto your keyboard. (wow she should be on the new inventors)

THANK YOU SO MUCH ZYRA YOU DEFINITELY CHEERED ME UP

HAPPY EASTER

Happy Easter to all my readers. I am sitting here at 6am in the morning and updating everyone on my progress. Well remember that I was saying an affirmation 10 times a day and I haven't told anyone if that's helped me (Read my blog on Confidence) saying the affirmation is awesome I keep it on a piece of paper on the table and every time I pass it I say it and yes it's made the little voice in my head not be as negative. When I went to the 2 day event Lyndsey Baigent was talking about her negative voice and named it Doris. So every time I think oh I look fat or I can't do that I tell Doris to BE QUIET and that has definitely helped to keep that negative voice in my head at bay. One of my goals was to find a job, well 2 days after I wrote that down a friend Megan rang up and heard about a job at a bag and jewellery shop in town. I went into the shopping center and handed in my resume and that was 2 week ago and I haven't heard anything since. The lady seemed to of really like me and hopefully they are just on holidays. I should get my Diva kit this week and begin to sell that which will be an excellent challene and way to meet new people. My goal with diva is only to begin and make $100 per week (I'm starting small). The other challenge I had set for myself was to find two new friends (yes I'm a freak) and I been invited out on Tuesday night with the girls from playgroup and I met a friend at the convention. Then I tried to go raw, you know ever since I did that detox I can't stop shovelling rubbish in my mouth. I feel fat, unhealthy and tired (shut up Doris) at the moment so I need to get back into eating even one raw meal a day. That's about it have a fantastic Easter.

Gratitude day

Yes Yes drum roll please bbbbrrrr I have finally joined a home based business Diva cosmetics. The products are 99%-100% natural and the biggie is they are all under $20. So I'm grateful that I have finally found a company and can begin to work my butt off. Oh yes and I am the first and only Diva consultant in Northern NSW what a challenge.

This is a picture of Erin Cash from "Sweat Diva" She's the one in the middle. So I'm grateful for amazing women to motivate and inspire me. Photo courtesy of christian bowman

Well don't I have a lot to be grateful for. This picture is our daughter Charlee. She is probably the happiest baby ever except when you take her picture. There is a baby comp and you win $500 worth of baby clothes from al la pumpkin patch and I think my little bundle of joy has the potential to kick butt. Anyway as I said before there is buckley's of getting her to smile for the camera so she has that stunned mullet look oh well maybe next year.

Last night we had so much fun. We put a fire in the back yard and played music and drank beer. Yes Yes what a yobbo thing to do but geez it was fun. There was just Riley, Jason and I and I felt really united as a family. We laughed and giggled and watched the hypnotising flames. Riley kept saying "What are we going to do now" cause he couldn't work out why we were just relaxing doing nothing. If anyone knows Jason and I they would know we never sit still.

This was my fav thing this week I watched Jason and Riley in front of the fire and it must be a prehistoric bonding ritual or something, but Jason was tickled pink to be doing this with his son. He kept putting his hand on his leg and they were both having a fantastic time. This is a photo they took of themselves ignore the peanut butter on Riley's face. They were actually going to camp in the back yard but yes you guessed it. The tent was bought from a garage sale and they began setting up the tent. I went to pick up nanny and came back and the tent was lop sided and connected to the clothes line. Yes slight technical hitch the buggars forgot to put in the main pole in when Jason bought it. Jason said we were lucky though because in the tent was an old sweaty hat mmmmm. One of Jason's good points is he always see's the positive in every situation.

2 AWESOME DAY'S

THIS IS A PICTURE OF LYNDSEY BAIGENT AND ME AT THE SMALL BUSINESS CONVENTION.
THIS IS LYNDA LEE BYRNES (AKA FLAME FROM THE GLADIATORS) AND MYSELF.
I have just had the most amazing two days up in Brisbane. There were 4 separate speakers each talking about a different section of your life. I have only been to a Tony Robbins seminar before and this was 10 times better. It was focused solely on women and you could feel the unity in the room. I walked into a room full of 100 strangers and boy did I feel uncomfortable. Because I'm blind as a bat I sat down at a table at the front and began talking to the ladies there and they were lovely. Then Lyndsey got up on stage and told us all to move and I sat next to a lady called Lisa and that was it she was my brand new friend and she was heaps funny. The first speaker was Laurie fitzgerald from under cover wear and that was really interesting telling us how to make our business boom (which I don't have a business yet) and then we were all told to get up and stand in a huge circle. What we had to do was make eye contact with a person in the circle who we would like to get to know. When Lyndsey said go we had to approach that person and if they picked someone else we had to keep going until we found someone who wanted to get to know us. It was very awkward and uncomfortable because we stood there for about 15 minutes just looking at everyone and hoping someone would choose us. Well Lyndsey said go and this lovely lady called Lin came straight up to me. Then we had to do it again and the strange thing was that it wasn't half as hard the second time around. It was a big Aha moment as I realize that women all feel the same, we all feel awkward and want someone to single us out and talk to us in a crowded room. We want to made to feel special. After that we took a break for lunch and me and my new cool banana friend Lisa went upstairs and it was the first time in my life that I talked to heaps of people and didn't feel awkward and it's now 3 days later and I went to playgroup today and made more friends today than I ever have at playgroup.

Then it happened I fell totally in love with the next speaker ERIN CASH She is a 34 year old 5 ft size 6 with muscles bulging out everywhere came on the stage and you know what she was crrrrraaaazzzyyyyyy. She was leaping around like a thunder bird she was telling a story about the internal organs and had a different voice for the 8 organ she was talking about. She reminded me of the energizer bunny just not as furry. Yes yet again another aha moment if anyone knows me they would know that I'm a little different maybe a little strange in a good way. Here I was watching this unusual person in front of me and I looked around at the audience and they were as besotted as I was. Gee people love people who are just themselves no airs or graces just being me is enough.

The next day Linda (flame) gave us a talk about how to become a millionaire. Well 2 tips that I got was if you save $7.15 every day and after one year you will have $2600 then put that into a compound interest account with 10% interest and don't touch it for 30yrs. YOU WILL BE A MILLIONAIRE. The second tip was make sure the account your mortgage comes out of is the account that your salary goes into. It will take 8 years off a 30 year loan because your interest is calculated daily. So say if you get paid $4000 a month then the interest you will pay will be $4000 less on that day until you draw it out.

All and all it's the best 2 days and I feel a massive change which I have never felt before. Generally I will read something and it and I think wow and the change will last a day.

The next convention is August the 25th in Brisbane if your there go go go.

Small business conference

http://www.essentiallyforwomen.com.au
click on the above link and then click on direct selling and small business convention on the left hand side.
This is where I am going tomorrow and I can't wait. A while ago I went away with some friends to stay up on the Sunshine Coast and Riley at the time was being so difficult. I won't go into it but we left early and as I was travelling back to Brisbane I kept getting the image of essentially for women in my head. I had a friend tell me about Lyndsey Baigent the owner of "Essentially for Women". When I got home I picked up the phone and rang up Lyndsey and there I was the following Monday at a meeting. Lyndsey holds meetings once a month and th;y are fantastic. Lyndsey gives you the skills and tools you need to live the best life ever. She has a members only section on her web site and it's regularly updated with the amazing things she teaches. When I discovered that she was doing this small business convention I was so excited. Remember one of my goals is to run a successful business from home. The guest speakers are amazing there is Laurie Fitzgerald from undercover wear who does over $100 000 in sales annually. Lyndsay Baigent who's very successful in Diva cosmetics, she was the first person to bring the products to Brisbane. Her team still turns over $1000000 in sales annually. Linda Lee Byrnes who was Flame from Gladiators is coming to talk about making money (yes yes I can't wait) and finally Erin cash who will be talking about fitness and grooming. This interests me as I need all the help I can get. I can't wait so I'm desperately trying to find a tiny tape recorder so I can ask them all a few questions. I head up to Brisbane today and come back on Tuesday waa hoo!!!

Be scared, be very scared

When I first met Jason I was unaware of his hoarding obsession. Then eventually he took me down to meet his parents and what a surprise I had in store me. He has a little farm house and in the back yard is a massive big mother of all shed's full of, you guessed it SHIT. He collects anvils, stuffed animals and I'm not talking about those cute cuddly things that sit on your bed and no he doesn't hunt them. He has a tractor, 3 bikes, heaps of old cans, bottles and just a whole heap of useless crud. So I thought I would introduce you to this part of my life. Since we've moved down to the town where Jason grew up this is the opening of the shed in the back yard. I can remember one day in Brisbane they have throw your junk on the side of the road and the council will come and pick it up. Well Jason and I had only been together for a few months and his father came up to visit him. They went out for the morning and when they returned they had a car full of rubbish. I stood at the window and cried as I watched them bring up old lawn mowers, some detonator wire (god knows what for) and just useless junk. So I knew at that point that I would have to accept that Jason was a hoarder and that's that. The beauty of having a shed is when he closes the door I don't see it anymore. When we lived in Brisbane and decided to move we knew no one would want to move into the house with all the junk Jason had in the garage. I counted 23 lawn mowers so I rang up a lawn mower dealer and said "come over make me an offer" and for $50 bucks and we also had to deliver them to his house I got rid of all the rust bucket mowers. The top picture is Jason with the ferrel, festy, scary and just wrong stuffed animal. Yes if you look closely you can see it's a fox eating a duck what was he thinking. Don't worry Jason has heaps of good points this is just not one of them. So that's it for Jason and his rubbish and hopefully you can see why I like to have a whinge every now and then.

Things I am grateful for

PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE read my blog on happiness and click onto the years are short link. I am so grateful for watching that. I generally leave my daughter Charlee to crawl around and amuse herself because I want her to be more independent than Riley. After watching that I gave her the biggest hug and squeeze. If you haven't watched it spend one minute treating yourself.

This is a picture of the Cat Man from 60 minutes last Sunday. At playgroup we talked about him and one mummy said "How would he sleep with those things sticking out of his head?" yes that's right he literally has whiskers hanging out of the side of his head, claws instead of finger nails, he's had his teeth sharpened and fangs put in. So ladies and gentlemen I am going to give you your treat for the weekend. Close your eyes, take a big deep breathe feel your lungs filling up. Now imagine waking up next to him NAKED! AAAAHHHHHH. So why have I put the Cat Man on my gratitude page. Even if Jason collects shit, wears thongs from the 1970's, complains if a family outing cost's $12 and has the communication skills of a dead yak he's not the da da da da da da CAT MAN. (sing that to the tune of batman)

I love laughing and who doesn't. I don't know why but lately when Riley's cracks his usual 15 tantrum's a day I laugh instead of getting mad and you know what? Ever since I've done that the tantrum's seem to be decreasing. Isn't it funny that if you get up in a happy mood your children and everyone around seems happy mmmmm!!!!the law of attraction

April is a month of the year which I absolutely love. It reminds me of September as you can still feel the last breathe of summer combined with the creeping autumn chill. April's the perfect time to bring out your winter accessories and wear them with your summer outfits to make an ensemble more interesting. Above is a cool winter scarf I want it.

Riley and I have had heaps of fun getting into the Easter spirit we are in the process of making the world's best Easter hat for the bonza Easter hat parade. Also we have been very productive and made an awesome Easter basket for next Thursday's egg hunt.

So that's my gratitude list for the week.

Happiness

I decided to look through the internet to discover what wonderful tools they have to increase one's happiness and I came upon this video. Check it out click on the link below
YouTube - The Years Are Short Movie it only goes for one minute and worth it.

There is a site called zen habits that covers everything from getting your goal accomplished to how to turn karma around

Another site is dumb little man which gives you daily tips to save money, get more inspired and just everything you need to live a sensational life

An awesome site is 101 things in 1001 days where you write 101 things you want to achieve and obviously do it in 1001 days (just under 3 years). You write your list and then you can monitor yourself. It's a great motivator that you know people are reading your blog you feel like you have to do it (fantastic).

If you just need a big belly laugh check out this

Ok I hope you click on all of the above links especially and I am begging you watch "The years are short" especially if you are a parent.

What now?

Today I checked my emails for the info on the menu and shopping list from the raw diva's site and clicked on it and found to download the info it would cost money. Well I was a little disappointed as they say that's it a free detox. I know just cough up the money, well NO! it's the principle. So my head is actually spinning at the moment I want to start, so damn it I will. I think I will begin very gradually because my diet at the moment consists of heaps of coffee, cereal, dim sims and chili & garlic sauce (my new favourite thing) my cooked meal at night (last night was veal parma and mashed potato) and wine or beer. So imagine if I just began tomorrow eating all these healthy treats my body would explode or my head would, either one. So I will slowly begin to limit myself from one thing at a time. MMMM so what will be my first thing. Well I love to eat healthy at breakfast but cereal is hard for me to even look at and some days I have to make myself eat it. So lets begin with b'fast. I will have a juice and fruit up until 10.30am. Not very exciting but it's a start. I will also begin to hunt for a coffee alternative so if anyone knows one that tastes like coffee please let me know. There; I am beginning to think straight now it's quite daunting when you first begin. Well I'm taking the first step and so I'm pretty proud.

The Fast

Day 3 of the lead up to the raw food detox is just to download an E book so as I'm doing the detox I'll go through what the booklet says. This morning I got up to read day 4 because I've been quite busy I haven't read to much into the raw diva detox, I suppose I've just thought they will sent the info and I'll just do it. Well this morning's info was a little bit of a step back for the first day, which mind you begins tomorrow night at 6pm, it entails water and yes only water until 6pm the next night. I can do it and I have got to focus on having clear skin. I will actually put a photo on my blog today because my skin has cleared up so much since the last detox so imagine how clear it will be after another detox. I had a friend called Dave and he was probably the strangest friend I have ever had. When I first met him he was a fruitarian (which sounded like the name of an army out of a sci-fi movie) and then he decided that he would fast. So one day he came in to see me and his eyes looked so clear and bright and of course I commented. He told me that he had been fasting for 10 days and felt sensational. So I'm sure one day won't kill me. So if anyone wants to do it at the same time as me it begins 11th March at 6pm EST and I will blog beforehand what the next step is. There will be my shopping list so it's easier for you, my daily meal (if there's any) menu and how I'm feeling. Just make sure the water is filtered, when I first moved here I was shocked at the taste of the water. There had been alot of rain and I could taste the dirt in the water (ferrel) so I invested in a water filter and it's the best $30 I spent, just from BigW.
My main concern of course is not consuming coffee so I have found a site quitting caffeine painlessly and I need to get a coffee substitute. Geez I'm gonna miss it. As I'm sitting here writing this blog it's 6.15am and I have already had 2 cups of warm, soothing, rich coffee (gawd)
It's actually what I look forward to in the morning since I've given up the ciggies.
Ok So the Detox begin tomorrow 6pm

LATE BLOOMERS

I have been reading articles about late bloomers, which is a subject which fascinates me. Late bloomers are people that no matter what their ages haven't given up on their dreams. One of the article's was about a beautiful lady called Harriet Doerr. Her first novel "Stones of Ibarra" was published in 1984 and won the national book award. She was 74 when she published the award winning book. Let's have a look at Harriet's life. She was born in 1910 and at the age of 20 went to stanford university. She dropped out in 1930 because she wanted to marry and have children. She raised her children and in the 1950's her husband wanted to move to mexico to put their energy into an old abandoned mine which had been in the family for sometime. Her husband passed away in 1972 and she felt terribly lost so her son Michael suggested to go back to school. So in 1974 at the age of 64 she went back to study and with some encouragement from her family choose to do creative writing.

I will use Harriet's words from an heart warming interview she had with Terence Clarke. "and the first time I had to go to class I panicked. See there were all these 20 year old's ....you know these children going into the class room and I was standing out in the hallway petrified. This old women just standing there in a cloth coat. Me? write? Then the professor came in and he was almost as young as the students. Then the doors closed and I was all by myself in the hallway. All by myself convinced that I should turn around and never go into that class room. But then I remembered Bob Gibson. Bob Gibson? a hall of fame pitcher from the St Louis Cardinals. Gibson had retired in 1975 after a long season with the Cardinals. He gave the impression that he was a mean spirited pitcher who liked nothing better that to punish a hitter. If you got a home run off him you would be sure that next time you came to bat you would be throwing the ball right at you, with the intention of injuring you. He was famous for it, he was feared for it. You see I heard him say on the radio once that he would just humm that mother (ball) in there and just see what would happen. And I thought if it's good enough for Bob Gibson it's good enough for me and that's what I did I opened the door and walked into that class. My plan was to humm that mother right in there, and I did.

Harriet passed away at the age of 92 but how inspirational is she. To think that I began this blog with I'm 34 and I going through a midlife crisis worried my life is flying past me. Gosh I am only 34. I think people tend to think that if they make a decision (eg: starting education at uni) they have 4 years in front of them. But you need to think if you don't love it change until you find something that you do love. Just take that first initial step and give it ago. How much more fun is life when you can say you've tried it instead of never giving it a go. Even if it's for one day. As a quote from a centenarian I read once said "if I had known I would live t0 100 I would have taken up the violin at 40 and I would of been playing for 60 years" Profound. I found these stories of late bloomers so inspiring and I feel like a spring chicken again.

Weekly goals

My weekly to do list

1. Prepare for the raw food detox
focus on all the things I will have instead of all the things I will be missing out on.

2. Make sure all my Uni is confirmed

3. Find a job This is the one thing I didn't want to do. In the town where jobs are few and far between and because I haven't worked for over a year I'm scared to go back into the workforce.

4. Go to playgroup on Tues and Thurs to meet more people. The girls at the playgroup I go to are really nice and friendly So I will get in there and mingle.

Raw transition

With all my researching about becoming a raw foodist I have taken in a heap of info but only found that the more info the more confused I have become. I feel like it's just to much effort to do with 2 kids and being a stay at home mum and to I think I have to cook for the household. The biggest thing is I love eating out (not that we do it enough) so imagine going to a restaurant or maybe a BBQ and someone asks "Kym would you like a sausage" "Oh no thanks I'll just have a salad and by the way it's all raw isn't it?". So I have researched the web and written out a bit of a plan with the help of the Raw diva's and I have made it very easy on myself. I have also come to the conclusion if I do go out I will eat what I feel like. The amount of time I go out a year you could probably count on one hand. I have no doubt that after a while I will feel that sensational it will not bother me to say "give me the lettuce and that coconut over there please so do you have a straw?"
KYM'S TIPS TO AN EASY TRANSITION
FOODS YOU CAN EAT
Fruit
Vegies
Greens (this is the big kahuna of the raw diet) add these leafy green to your next grocery shop. Bok choy, fennel, mustard greens, lettuce, beet greens, parsley ,spinach, watercress etc
Sprouts (excellent source of energy, nutrients and fibre) just sprinkle on a salad
sunflower, lentil, mung bean, alfalfa, broccoli, pea shoots etc
Fresh herbs mint, dill, coriander, oregano, rosemary etc
Nuts and Seeds This is our indulgences (indulgence I hear you say, that's the treat some nuts and seeds) When you stop eating cooked foods it's very easy to overeat on nuts as they replace the oils from the cooked foods. So go easy on these as they will leave you feeling heavy and less
energetic.
Water Water will be your best mate whilst doing the detox. When every you feel hungry just drink some water wait 15 minutes and the hunger should subside. You probably won't need to drink as much water because of all the juice you will be drinking.
Salt No salt, vinegar or other condiments the Diva's say that if you can avoid not have salt and other toxins you will notice the biggest difference. (i love salt gawd) By avoiding salt alone your energy will increase and it will make the entire process easier.
Check out this site they like to give it to me raw it's a feed for heaps of raw food sites and recipes
So that's the basics for what to eat and I can't wait to make a raw pizza or pasta and see how it tastes.

THE RAW MODEL

This is Anthony the raw model Yes not the most appealing photo's but it's the before raw food and after one month of being on raw food. I have just listened to an interview with Anthony and the more I listen the more I am impressed and want to find out more about the benefits. See I have always wanted to become a vegetarian and for almost a year when I was living in Cairns I never ate meat. My mother came to visit me and nearly fell over she said I looked sick. Next thing I knew she cooked up a pot of beef stew and I ate it. The next day I felt fantastic and realized that I need to either eat meat or substitute correctly.

Here are the main points of the interview:
1. After only a few weeks of eating raw food he was going to bed at 2am and waking at 6am and
feeling totally energised (I need that)
2. Lost 15 pounds in the first few weeks and felt when he walked into a room he no longer felt
intimidated or had to put on a show for other people. He felt clear and confident.
3. After one month he felt joyful, pure and complete happiness. The feeling of completeness
4. He began his blog to inspire people to give raw ago and have less impact on earth
5. He wants everyone to try it for 2 - 3 weeks and feel the difference for themselves
His advice for people that are transitioning from cooked to raw is don't stress to much. He said it's hard at first and the hardest thing he felt was when his girl friend invited him to meet her parents for the first time. They are from Hong Kong and he didn't want to sit at the table and not eat anything. So he ate the Dim Sims and it took his body a week to feel super fantastic again. So he's advice is just do your own thing and don't let it consume your life. Eventually your body will feel that good that you won't want that cooked food.
"The longer you do it the more you realize that your values are
in line with the earth"
wow wouldn't you love to be disciplined enough to eat raw food all the time. So I did a little research and have discovered a site called "The raw diva's"
These ladies do a 7 day raw food detox and they state the benefits are
1. Look 5 years younger (hell yeah)
2. Overcome incessant cravings (what about coffee)
3. Loose some pounds (hopefully off my butt)
4. Banish cellulite
5. Heaps more energy.
This sounds like the thing for me they have a lead up to it and it actually take 14 days.
So tomorrow will be my first day and I already have my day 1 instructions.
Tomorrow I need to just focus on all the things I will have from the detox
I will have more energy
I will have more nutritious meals
I will weigh less
I will feel more confident
I will not focus on all the things I won't have like
I wont have a fulfilling meal
I won't have that yummy coffee
I won't have that crisp glass of wine
Instead I will have a carrot stick mmmmm!!!!!
Lets see how I go I will blog each day about all the twigs, leaves and seeds I will be eating ( now doesn't that sound tempting)

RAW FOOD CRAZE

What's this I hear about the new raw food craze sweeping the world. Imagine that, only eatting raw food, never being able to eat bread, a lamb chop, thai green chicken curry (gawd). I stumbled upon a site today and it's called the http://www.rawmodelcom.blogspot.com/
and it was this hot hot hot and yes I should say it again hot man. Who only eats raw food and travels to exotic tropical locations to discover different raw culinary. I thought well what could these people eat except carrot, banana and zucchini. Well it seems quite alot and instead of cooking in an oven they use a dehydrator. There are restaurants in America that only serve raw food It's a raw food revolution. Here's one recipe which I can't wait to try:
Stuffing
Red pepper stuffed mushroom
1/2 cup red belle peppers
1/2 cup pine nuts
1/2 cup pecan nuts
3 garlic cloves (use garlic press)
1/2 tsp sea salt
1/2 tbsp lemon juice
2 tsp agave (or any sweetner)
1/2 tsp ground cumin
1/4 tsp cayenne
1/4 cup filtered water
1/3 cup olive oil
Put into a food processor and blend add oil and water to desired consistency. Stuff the mushroom should make about 16 and use you dehydrater.
See it dosen't seem all that bad to eat raw and imagine the health benefits. There are courses in Melbourne in raw food preparation and then there's a raw retreat. So don't be surprised that in a few year there will be raw food everywhere and don't forget to check out the raw model (oh lordy mmmm mmmm!!!)

This is mwah is her new creation. I love, love, love em' when I cut out the pattern we had to measure me and I had to cut it out to a size 16 (gawd)
This is my hot banana son Riley the little model he is. I bought the knitted beanie from st vinnie's $2. The sash 50 cents and singlet who knows where.
